Introduction to Custom AI Feeds
YouTube is introducing a new feature that allows users to create personalized video feeds based on their interests, moods, or favorite topics. This feature is currently available to YouTube users in the US who are signed in on the YouTube mobile app or desktop. To access it, users can click on the “Your custom feed” tab at the top of the YouTube homepage and enter a prompt description into the AI text box.
For example, users can ask the YouTube AI to create a feed based on guided meditations under 10 minutes or deep-dive tech podcasts about AI. The AI will then curate a feed based on the user's request.
How Custom AI Feeds Work
The custom AI feed feature is similar to other AI-powered feed customization features available on other platforms, such as Spotify's prompted playlists. However, YouTube's feature uses descriptive prompts to generate a customized feed. Users can edit their prompts at any time to generate a brand new feed by selecting the text box at the top of their custom feed.
To see the “Your custom feed” tab, users need to ensure their search and watch history are enabled in their account settings. If the AI messes up the feed request, users can report the issue to YouTube by clicking the 3-dot menu on the feature tab and selecting “Something wrong?” to leave feedback.
